Description
Toy cutter are usually not designed to cut like a real cutter. Although similar in shape to a regular cutter, the blade on a toy knife is usually made of a dull plastic or other material that is not sharp. Toy cutters are commonly used for play props or as a complement to other toy sets, such as play dough or office supply toys.
Parts of Toy Cutter
• Slider
Slider is used to drag or drop the bar.
• Blade
The blade has a sharp edge and is used for cutting.
• Blade Holder
Is used to securely grip the sharp blade of the cutter.
• Blade Locker
Is used to lock and unlock the cutter blade. It is usually located on the side of the cutter handle.
Material
The material commonly used in making toy cutter is ABS.
ABS, or Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, is a thermoplastic polymer made of three main ingredients: acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene.
Reasons for choosing ABS as the material for toy cutter
• ABS is renowned for its strength and resistance to impact, scratches and chemicals. This is important for toy cutters as they are often played with by children and need to withstand rough use.
• ABS is relatively cheap compared to other materials often used for toys, such as metal or glass.
• ABS can also be painted and coated, making it possible to create a variety of interesting designs and colors for children.
• ABS is non-toxic and safe for use by children. ABS is also non-flammable, making it safer than other materials such as wood or PVC plastic.
Machining Process
The machining processes commonly used in toy cutter manufacturing are injection molding and 3D printing.
